Can I restore MBR only with IFL?

Hello All,

I have full sector by sector images of my C: drive on an external drive, created with IFL loaded from a bootable USB drive.

Is it possible with IFL to restore from the image only the MBR record?

Thanks,

Bill

Bill,

Can you explain why you want to restore the MBR (only)?

Thanks, Brian, for your interest.

My question is hypothetical. I have been reading comments on other forums about the need to protect the MBR due to certain rootkits, etc.

Since I already use IFW/IFD/IFL and create monthly disk images, my question is can I restore only the MBR as a first attempt if I suspect this type of maleware...

Thanks,

Bill

you can just have BIBM install a standard mbr via partition work / view mbr.

you can also use tbosdt pro to copy sectors to / from file.
