An install of 2.69 IFW on Windows 8 Consumer Preview refuses to accept the KEY. Reinstalled; same.
Earlier installation of Windows 8 Developer Preview on the same PC/same partition did accept the key.
(User account control is OFF)

IFW 2.69 on another drive of the same PC (Windows 7) accepts the key.

What's the fix, please? Thanks.

borate,

I installed IFW in Win8 Consumer Preview but I used imagew.ini instead of using the key. It worked.

I've seen reports of Ghost 15 not accepting its key in Win8 Consumer Preview.

Edit... I just installed IFW into another Win8 and it accepted the key.

Thanks, but it is unclear what is meant by "I used imagew.ini."
If you meant that you typed that file name into the KEY box in lieu of the #, I tested that. No go.

Also uninstalled 2.69 and installed 2.66. No.
Upgraded to 2.69. Same.

Just incidentally, the initial install attempt, mentioned earlier, was made with USER ACCOUNT control enabled.
The most recent installations were made after it was disabled.

Searching both the correctly working (registered) IFW on the W7 drive and the one
that does not accept registration - W8 on another drive - no IMAGEW.ini files are found.

Anywhere on either system.

You would need to create the file and place it in the IFW folder. It only needs to contain two lines:

Code: Select all

[License]
Key=User Name xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx
Just create a text file named imagew.ini, add the text to it using your registered name and key, save it, and then set the file to read-only (so IFW doesn't clear it when it runs).

Did the job. Gracias for the usual fine support.
