IFL CD asks for product key

Post by rustleg »

The IFL CD I burned requires a product key to be entered when it is booted. I'd like to avoid this requirement. I created a custom.ini file in which are the lines (as well as some other custom lines):

[LICENSE]
user=My Name
productkey=AAAA-BBBB-CCCC

and I used Linux to create the CD using ./makeISO as root. This is version 2.99-00.

I thought that would do it. Then I thought the custom.ini file might not have been read properly but it does read at least some of the items since the validate and max file size options are correctly set. The product key is also asked for when I created a custom USB stick.

What else do I need to do to make a CD / USB stick which doesn't ask me for a product key on boot?

I've actually got 5 licences for IFL all in my name (for me, a club I support, and 3 friends I set up with IFW). Does it matter which licence code I used for the initial product download?

there is no user name in the 2.x version.

you should upgrade to the 3.x version.
