3.09 IFL bootCD Issues

IFL 3.09 boot CD. Tested it when first burnt, on "machine A", simply by booting into IFL. But when called upon in its moment of need, every attempt to Validate a number of recent IFW 3.09 Images from the IFL boot CD all failed. Needed one of those to recover the server. So put the hard drive in another machine with IFW 3.09 on it, they all validated fine.

Today got round to testing that IFL CD, on "machine A" again, IFL fails to boot, it gets to "waiting for udev to complete (3min timeout) [BUSY]" & sits there with flashing cursor for 30secs or so then freezes. Every time. Tried a different graphics mode, same. Cleaned the nice newish CD, same.

Downloading 3.13 ..

BTW sure wish it was straightforward to create a bootable USB drive.

But in general I sure like this software. - Thanks, Chris

udev issues you can try diagnosing by removing external drives, opening cd
drive drawer, etc.. it's part of linux so you may find other kernel
parameters that may help.

on creating a bootable usb drive on windows, you run makedisk. I think
that is pretty straight forward. On linux you have to use the command line
options.

IFL boot CD & USB didn't like my Asmedia PCIe 106x SATA card. DVD drive was on it, and even my newly-made IFL 3.13 USB drive froze at udev.

Swopped the DVD drive to a mobo SATA port, put a regular SATA hard drive onto the PCIe SATA card, and all is well. 3.13 USB & CD both boot, and Validate images.

Thanks -Chris
