Problem restoring HD image from CD.

Have created an image from a laptop (IDE) harddisk with a single partition. I'm using Image for Dos CUI. Booting from the CD works fine. Then I choose:
- Restore - Select, Automatic/Normal Normal - Select File Access Method, File (CD/DVD) - Select Drive Interface, ATAPI - Select Source Drive, DVD/CDRW - Restore From ..., all fields are blank. Nothing to select.

The frustrating part is, when I use the same CD on an other computer, IfD shows the image file in "Restore From ..."

Tried Select Automatic instead of normal, no difference. Also made an image using BIOS Direct instead of BIOS, no difference.

Anybody any idea? Thanks in advance.

Was the backup image burned to the CD (or DVD) on the same laptop? If so, was it visible on the disc from IFD at that time (validated, for example)?

It's possible it's not liking the media. You could try a different disc and/or disc type and see if it works better.

Depending on the system, there may be options in the BIOS related to the controller or optical drive. If it worked before maybe something got changed.

Using IFL is another option.

Was the backup ... the same laptop? _ _ _ Yes, I used a diskette.

If so, ... visible ... IFD at that time (validated, ...)? _ _ _ Didn't looked /used that possibility. Just burned CD-RW's (If it works all fine I use CD-R's).

It's ... not liking the media. _ _ _ Puzzling for me is why it boots from the CD-RW and runs IfD perfectly and then doesn't see the image-part on the same CD-RW (but sees it on an other PC).

Depending ... options ... BIOS ... optical drive. _ _ _ No options in the BIOS for any drive. Only boot drive sequence.

I'll try a few things and post my findings. Maybe it's better/faster to use a firewire harddisk.

Found something.

After booting from CD there is the choice: "Press the <space bar> for the menu interface or wait for the restore to start..."

In the past I always used the space bar. Know - after waiting - the following shows up: "Problems were found in the list of partitions. Insert media number 1 containing file *.TBI, >OK< / Cancel

Problem solved.

Sessions on CD-RW's are left open by IfD. I closed the session on the CD-RW on an other PC with Nero Express. Then IfD is able to see the name of the image-file. Must have been something with the CD-drive on the laptop who doesn't like open sessions.
