CompactData

Good day.

Now what IFx v3 has been out for a while, and has a new feature I am interested in, I think I should upgrade. This new "CompactData" feature, can we select it in the UI? (the release notes only mention the /cd commandLine option). Also, does this do what I think it does, ie. Same as OLD OLD Ghost, where it basically defragments your drive on restore and packs everything at the beginning of the disk?

Thank you.
Best Regards,

B00ze,

Yes, there is an IFW Option in the GUI to select CompactData.

Yes, it is similar to the OLD DOS Ghost in that the data is packed to the front of the partition but it is a compaction and not a defragmentation. OLD DOS Ghost is file based and IFW is sector based.

Oh, right, it won't defrag but does compact - got it, thanks Brian! Off to purchase the new version :-)
