Differential version mix.

Hi,

Just for fun, I thought I would see if making a v3 differential from a
v2 base file would work.

I would not like to rely on this unless told it is okay, but I did not
get any error messages before I got to the "Click Start to Begin"
screen. Is it okay to do this or not?

It is not a big deal to make a new v3 base file, but I am just
curious.

Thanks in advance.

I create incrementals and have had no problem with adding a v3 into a mix of v2's

You may need to use V3 to restore, though.

I had no problems doing that sort of mix either. But that does not
mean that the same mix would satisfactorily restore.

The V2 images are fully supported. You can continue chains, consolidate chains, etc. The new images would require V3 unless backwards compatible options were used.
