A friend of mine bought IFW, after encouragement from me, and I wrote
her a simple batch file to run a full backup manually.

Today, after successfully using IFW about 4 or 5 times, her backup
failed at initial startup with this message:
Image for Windows Backup Failed 13.

This message does not remain on the screen for more than several seconds.

Can you please provide me with help to right this problem for her?

While on the subject, where is the log file supposed to be located?
Looking at my own system, The only IFW.log file I have was last written
to in April 2015. So, there is an issue there. I know for a fact that my
command line does NOT disallow the creation of a log file, and I should
have hundreds more entries in it, since I do a full backup daily.

Incidentally, we are both running latest version [2.99]
Her machine is Windows 10, 64 bit, and mine is Windows 7 32 bit.

Open IFW, Settings. Do you have a path for Log file? If it is blank check this folder...

C:\Program Files (x86)\TeraByte Unlimited\Image for Windows\V2

you need to log in the ifw.log file (settings, click the blue icon).

Re: log file in V2 folder, there is not one.
Only IFW log file on my computer is in a folder I created a long time
ago to store batch files, and as I said, that one terminated in June
2015-no entries since that time.

In IFW Settings, there is an entry in Log File box that says D:\log.txt
D: is the drive on which my TBI images are stored.

So, at this point, I do not have any current log files, even though
there is a checked entry in IFW options to create a log file.

Clicking blue box just brings up blank Notepad page titled Log.txt
Don't see the point here.

I am still needing to find out what that "Image for Windows Backup
Failed 13." means, and how to fix the issue so she can create backups
again.

Of course I have no idea just what your batch file does, whether you have access to the PC in question, or what skills your friend has, but if I were in your situation and if it were feasible, for lack of any better idea. I'd probably try to create a backup via the GUI and see what happens.

with IFW [unless I am misinterpreting what you are saying]

I am 200 miles away, and she is a novice, but I am going to try to get
her to see if the OS still recognizes the external hard drive on which
the backups reside, and then I will ask her to find the IFW.log file.

I'll bet you that the logging stop at one of the IFW update points,
and never knew because I never look at the log file.

It would go to D:\log.txt provided logging results were enabled and not
overridden on command line. If /logl:0 is there then logging is disabled,
if /logfile: points to something else, that is where it wants to go (should
do it early the the command line). Otherwise the default is ifw.log in the
program folder.

You'll need to see what it says in the log, the event log may have it as
well, but more details in the .log file.
