Time Stamp on Backup

Post by Ed Smith »

Used IFL 2.97e the past few days doing backups and a couple restores.
Haven't updated to 2.98 yet.

When I create the backup validated byte for byte, the tbi file has a time
stamp around 6 hours earlier then my actual time.
That time shows on my External Drive I backup too.

When I did my restores, IFL shows the tbi file with the correct time when it
was created.
Also IFL shows at bottom right corner of the screen my current correct time.

In Window my time and date are correct in BIOS.
Also time and date correct in sys tray.
I am on Eastern Daylight Savings Time.

Did I miss something in setup of IFL about selecting a time zone ?
I am on Easter Daylight Savings Time.

I am using Windows 10 Pro if that matters.

It's no big deal but would just like to know why it's happening.

Thanks to anyone that can provide some info,
Ed.

Ed,

Does your ifl.ini on the boot media contain a "TimeZone=" entry?

This is all it has in it:

[Options]
KeepFailedBackups=1
[License]
ProductKey=xxxx-xxxx-xxxx

No I am in North East Ohio in the United States on Eastern Time (US &
Canada).

Since you mentioned about the ini file I looked at the manual and saw a pic
showing how it is and this is what it had:
TimeZone=EST5EDT
Would this be what I would also need?

Ed,

Try TimeZone=EST5EDT

You mentioned Eastern Daylight Savings Time. Here in Australia, summer, we have Daylight Savings Time. You are in winter.

OK on the Daylight Savings Time. I bet it's nice there in Australia being
summer there.
Wish I was there. It's snowing lightly here and 12 degrees.

Thank you so much. That worked. Appreciate your help and Thanks,
Ed.

I have one question. I also use IFD but don't have recent backup to check
the time.
Do you also put the TimeZone in during the install as did in IFL ?

Thanks Again,
Ed.
