Error 80?

Post by jeffw_00 »

HI - I had a differential backup fail due to Error 80. Can someone tell me what Error 80 is? Is there an error key or index somewhere?

Thanks!!!

Sadly not. It would be very useful indeed and it has been requested
many times. OTOH, I do not think the info would be of any *practical*
use to the end-user.

The reason should be in the log. What does it show for the backup?

Hi paul - I don't have easy access right now- can supply later but other than Error 80, the only other information was "Stream Corrupt" - which is the effect (but not the cause) of every failure

Error decompressing which means the file is most likely corrupt or you have
the other various hardware issues found at
http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/kb/article.php?id=151

You may want to try validating it.

So I have a full backup that validates perfectly (just tried it), but every time i try a differential, it fails with Error 80 while processing a DIFFERENT file of the full backup. (3 tries, 3 different files).
So... ?????
Thanks!

Please understand -this is on a recent model whitebox PC with intel i5 motherboard and Windows 7. It's used to run a financial business, and other this this issue has no problems and runs flawlessly. Including (generally) weekly full backups and daily incrementals. It looks like IFW generated a valid backup it can't process?
