on disk now can be different than when backup taken.

I'm still confused by IFL saying "715,384 MiB required ". I would have
expected it to say "1,154,997 MiB required".
Confused

Update: Restore completed on USB drive, everything looks same, but it
won't boot. Device is not shown in MAC Boot Manager (Startup Manager),
so it can't be selected.
In IFL Restore mode I set the "gpt hidden from os" option, but was
unable to find the "restore first track option" in options list [using
IFL 2.97e] which was recommended by TB

Were no errors.

1) Results of completed RESTORE OP of whole drive image:
Partition structure looks good, BUT
MAC OS boots into internal drive and NOT into the Restored OS on the Ext. HD
(I know this for a fact since I changed the internal desktop appearance
after the image was made so as to tell the difference).
WIN 7 OS attempts to boot and then goes into a loop - never fully booting.
2) I then made a whole drive COPY (Clone Using IFW) and these are the
results:
Partition structure looks good, BUT
MAC OS behaves exactly as with Image/Restore OP
WIN 7 OS cannot be selected for booting (does not appear in Boot Manager)
either I am doing something wrong or this type of an OP is not possible.

Re: Confused
you can't boot with the internal drive attached since the signatures will be
the same (unless you changed them, in which case if there are references in
the apple partition, they are not updated).
you'd have to also make sure your mac can boot from usb. newer ones would
say something like boot windows or os/x. if not, attach internally. (also
presume corestorage was disabled).
