IFW does not see external HD for recovery

Post by TomG »

I am using IFW (x64) 2.9a on a Windows-7 PC.
I made several backup images to an external hard drive connected by USB.
On one occasion, I restored an image as a test.
Today, when I boot to a CD for restore, I cannot see the external USB hard drive.
However, when I am in Windows, I can see the external USB hard drive.
In windows, I can browse to the USB HD, and see the TBI file.
But...not with the boot disk.

Initially, I used the trial version. Then I purchased a license.

Does anyone have ideas as to why I cannot see the external hard drive?

You're probably using Image for DOS:

Problem solved.
(The original issue was that I could not see the external USB HD in recovery.)
It appears to have been USB 3.0 driver issue.
Once this driver was refreshed with one obtained from HP, everything was OK.

FYI, when I installed the trial version, I installed AIK. (PC is Windows-7.)
At that time, I made both Windows and Dos boot disks.
The Windows boot disk would not see external USB HD in recovery.
The DOS boot disk did see it.
After replacing the USB 3.0 driver, and remaking Windows boot disk, the Windows disk worked fine.

Terabyte is working well. It is good software.
It is nice to know that when a drive crashes (or I mess up the OS), I can reinstall with all my programs, files, etc. in place.
You have done a great job with documentation.
