Where is a definition/listing of all ERROR CODES

Post by jeffw_00 »

Must have one somewhere. should be in the manual

I'm getting Error code 94 and I have no idea what it means.

Thanks!

there would be an actually message in the log indicating what it is.

all the log says, a few lines down is "Stream Corrupt". I was looking for more of a clue.

Why wouldn't you guys have an Error Code listing somewhere? Seems like something you would do...

The error codes are generic so you need the output to know the details.

Thanks, my perception was that more than one Error code led to "Stream Corrupt" and knowing what the # referred to might give me more information toward finding the cause. All I want to know is everything IFW knows :-).

Turned out to be a transient issue anyway, although an odd one. I did a full backup last friday, and the differentials I did Sat, Sun, Mon, Tues were fine, but Wed and Thurs's differential gave me this error. So somehow the original full got corrupted 5 days after it was created? That's scary....

However, did a new full on Friday and it seems to be working fine since.

I've seen this in the past, but typically it happens like 1 day out of 6 at random so I tend to ignore....

any/all thought welcome - thanks!

if your source file is getting altered, then it would appear you have
something like defrag corrupting it, either because you need to run chkdsk
/f on your partitions or the system has a memory or other issue. Otherwise,
the file doesn't change. A file is a file.

yeah - I agree, and I'm not running chkdsk or defrag (I run them -before each full backup, but not on the days there were differentials). This was a transient thing that hasn't recurred. so...

Thanks!

I too would like to know the error codes. I have a script that does weekly backups, and have programmed in error code recovery for the past errors that I have experienced. I will now add error 94 to the list with appropriate recovery action. It would be nice to know what other errors are available so I do not have to experience the error before attempting some kind of recovery.

Could you please make a list of error codes and the simple syntax associated with each. (greater recovery suggestions would be appreciated, but I will settle for the codes and brief description)

weird that TBU doesn't make this available - so unlike them - but maybe there are higher priorities...

you need to look in the .log (or event log) for the error message which will
describe the error. knowing the generic numbers won't help much, you can
get the same generic code but not know what it relates to.
