Backing up Hyper-V Guests and Hosts

Post by Rickkee »

Is it possible to use Image4Windows to backup Windows Server Hyper-V Host and Guest?
From the Hyper-V Host can it snap the VHD's without damage or corruption?
My understanding is that a ive Hyper-V Guest may contain information that is processing in RAM that should be snapshot or paused and flushed to disk.
Are there any plans for a Hyper-v agent that can do this? All the competing products sell for upwards of $600 USD + $200-300 more for each machine.

just run ifw from within the VM. you could run from the host to backup the
partition containing the file, but there will be lots of changes occurring
that have to be logged if in use, you wouldn't want to do it via the direct
support for .vhd files if it was running. One of the servers here has a
Virtual Server running another server and the entire thing is backed up each
night no problem, but the system isn't being used by anyone.
