My version is 5 years old, it's BING and yes the Settings icon from BING desktop.

Which BING version? Maybe you need to upgrade to ver 1.87 to get the 2048 choice.

My BING ver is 2.02, from the message from using the BING boot cd.
However searching back thru my initial DL files VendorInfo says I have ver 1.77 July 2006.

BootIt ver 2 is over 11 years old. It preceded BING. The most recent version of BING is 1.87. The most recent version of BIBM is 1.07.

At this point we don't know what is causing the initial "HD1 partition is unchecked warning".
Would ver 1.87 help ?
Is 1.77 to 1.87 upgrade possible now, since it's already superseded ?
Would such a small upgrade be free ?
Would Bare Metal help ?

Ver 1.87 will be on your download page...

If it was my computer I'd uninstall BING. Then setup the SSD in the HD0 position and install BING 1.87 to the SSD.

Thanks Brian, I have DL 1.87 burned a cd and upgraded in the pc.
1st I made a an extra EMBR in HD1, rebooted fro cd again and then auto updated the EMBR in HD0.
2nd I checked align at 2048.
3rd I played with the boot.ini of ssd XP HD1.
None of them worked ... still can't check multi-os ssd XP partition --> unable to load.
... as usual it does use ssd XP after that though, w/o trouble.

Perhaps the issue is in the boot.ini ?
At the moment multi(0) disk(0) rdisk(0) partition(1)
I changed each of the multi, disk & rdisk to 1 but no change in warning.
I haven't tried cahnging more than one at a time, before that what do you think of the boot.ini values ?

I've never tried the Multi OS option. I have each OS in its own partition.

I'm a little lost. I know you have a SSD and a HD. Any other HDs? How many OS would you like? Which OS?

I think I've got it now. A WinXP on each drive. You don't really need an EMBR on the SSD. You don't need the Multi OS option. Just setup two boot items in BING and use Swap for the SSD as TeraByte Support described.

Check out this video. It describes creating 2 WinXP on the same HD but the principles apply to two drives...

G'day Brian,
OK I'm going to really show my ignorance now ... you say you simply put each os in it's own partition so don't need the multi-os option. I didn't know yoy could do that ... guess that's exactly what the video shows though. I just assumed that having multiple os meant I needed the multi-os option. I'll have to try that !

Having 2 XP systems is not my goal at all, it's just a safe way of getting set up. Once we've got the wrinkles out of my set-up, and the bugs out of my head, I'll have win7 or win8 as alternative os.
