Can BING handle Multi-Boot and Imaging of x64 W7, W8, LxMint

Post by sigi »

I am a registered BIBM user for multi-booting and imaging 64-Bit Win7 and LinuxMint without major problems.

But now my daughter wants to partition her notebook (which came with an Intel core i3 and a 64-Bit Windows 8.1 installed on it) in order to install additionally a 64-Bit Windows 7 and Linux Mint and I have to do the job. I assume I could handle it with BIBM but she is already familiar with BING to some extent and I fear BIBM Imaging would embarrass her. So, my question is whether BING could handle the boot management and imaging of the three OS's (especially whether it could handle Win 8.1 properly).

From what I have read so far at different sources e.g.
1. https://www.terabyteunlimited.com/kb/article.php?id=339
2. http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/kb/article.php?id=013
3. http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/kb/article.php?id=532
4. http://www.windows8downloads.com/win8-b ... -fdfhhcjs/
it looks as if BING could handle Win 8.1.

On the other hand No. 2 (dealing with BING) appears to only imply Win8 by stating: " Using the most current version of BootIt NG will provide the best support for newer operating systems (e.g. Windows 7)."
whereas No. 3 (dealing with BIBM) explicitely mentions Windows 8.

No. 4 is a foreign Website I detected by googling "BootIt NG, Win8)", which through its mere name ("Windows8downloads) suggests that BING could deal with Win8.

My question is whether I could safely carry out the above task of booting and imaging the 3 OS's and whether the sequence of OS installations starting from an existing Win 8.1 primary partition would be irrelevant.

I should mention that I have read TeraByte Support's warning about W8 corruption ensuing from Fast Startup (hibernate on shutdown).

it would probably work, but extra support and testing has been added to
BIBM, not with BING.

For future use, she would probably be better off with BIBM for her as
well as you. Plus since you are familiar with BIBM, it should be pretty
easy to assist her.

I could not partition my Win 7 X64 using my BING CD.It did not see what
was there correctly. I had to use Windows itself.

BIBM could have done it easily and I have since purchased it.

Plus you get IFD version 2 as part of BIBM.
