Hello,

I am facing the following problem:

I have 3 disks in my PC : 1 disk containing BootIt NG, Windows 7 and Windows 8 parititions and 2 other disks for my data (refer to attached image).
I decided to upgrade my Windows 8.0 to Windows 8.1. However, I was not able to do it while being in the Windows 8.0 partition. So, I booted using a Windows 8.0 ISO image and I reinstalled Windows 8.0 on my Windows 8.0 partition. Then I was able to upgrade to Windows 8.1. After the successfull upgrade, I booted using my BootIt NG CD to reactivate BootIt NG. Everything went ok and I can successfully boot to my Windows 7 partition.
However when I try to boot to the Windows 8.1 partition, I am getting the following error message :

"Windows failed to start. A recent hardware of software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
1.Insert your Windows installation disc and restart the computer.
2.Choose your language settings, and then click "Next".
3.Click "Repair your computer." If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.

Status: 0xc000000f

Info: The Boot Configuration Data for your PC is missing or contains errors."

So before messing with my partition, could you please let me know how to fix this?

Thanks in advance for your support.

Best regards
Alexandre

I would back up first and then do what Win 8.1 says.

You should use BootIt BM.

You should ensure you disable fast boot.

You can use BootIt BM to check the boot item and BCD. Ensure you don't have
next bios device or anything like that checked on the boot item and you are
booting the correct partition with the correct partitions in the MBR
Details. Double check partition work to ensure a partition wasn't created
that you don't need.

Hello,

I tried to use the Windows Repair which did not work.
Therefore, I purchased BootIt BM and upgraded my BootIt NG. Then, I formatted the Windows 8 partition, reinstalled Windows 8 from my iso image on DVD, upgraded to Windows 8.1 and everything is working this time.

Thanks for your suggestion and support.

Best regards
Alexandre

don't forget to disable fast startup - view properties of the Windows
partition in Partition Work.
