copy time

HI All, Am I doing something wrong I have a 160Gb hardrive that has been resized to 75007, it has 67085 free space with 7921 used, when I click on copy > paste to free space (77611) it starts copying BUT take ages, after 2 hours its still only 42%, anyway I can speed this up ?

Copying (anything) to the same HD is slow compared to copying to another HD.

well saying that, Ive got 2 laptops here, they are virtually the same apart from one has a lot faster processor than the other, if I put my loaded hard drive from one to the other I got the windows blue screen so I made a back up of the MBR of a fresh install of XP on the faster machine to an external hardrive then swapped drives then put the copy of the back up on so I didnt have to reload windows, to copy the MBR to external then back again after hardrive swap took 7 hours and that was only 75Gb :o

Try using BIOS (direct) instead of BIOS.
