How to remove Partitions ?

Thu Aug 16, 2012 12:55 pm

I have two hard drives Drive 0 and Drive 1. I have WIN 7 installed on the C Partition on Drive 1. Drive 0 has had all data transferred to an external drive and I now want to remove these two partitions on this drive and format it as a single unpartitioned drive .

Can you tell me how to do this using BIBM which I have installed on my hard drive , please ?

You should be able to, in Partition Work, simply Delete the existing partitions and then Create a new partition taking up the whole disk. My understanding is that BIBM can format the partition with the NTFS file system as it is being created though I haven't actually done that.

Alternatively, you could create and/or format the new partition in Windows Disk Management.

Thanks. Will have a go.

I have now managed to get Drive 0 unpartitioned Initially as "Unpartitioned Space" as shown her in this attachment. I then booted into BIBM and formatted this entire drive , or so it appeared to do in BIBM.

However , when I re-booted into Win 7 on my Drive 1 , Disk Management still shows Drive 0 to be "Unallocated Space" and , presumably , unformatted .

Can you explain this anomaly ?

Not sure BIBM can format NTFS if that is what you used.

Just format using Windows.

BIBM can format NTFS.

The disk is most likely the EMBR type (I assume the 8MB partition is the BootIt partition). You would need to make sure the new partition is loaded into the MBR for the drive. Edit the Windows 7 boot menu entry and check it.

No disagreement with this, but there seems to be some confusion here. The original stated desire was to make Disk 0 unpartitioned, but it looks like BIBM may be installed on Disk 0, so the original poster probably doesn't really want to make Disk 0 unpartitiioned.
