Image burned directly to DVD can't be copied to disk.

I imaged my C partition and had BIBM burn it directly to a DVD; it took four files. I wanted to test if I could copy the files to a hard drive and then restore from there. When the copy operation got close to the end of the last file I received this error message: Can't copy C_XP1_120415_A_: The parameter is incorrect.

What could be the cause of that? Does it mean a restore cannot be done from those files? Assuming I could fix this problem, would I be able to copy image files burned directly to a DVD to a hard drive and then use them for a restore?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

You need to use TBICD2HD to copy the direct burned files to the HD.

I see now that I have tbicd2hd.exe installed as part of IFW, but when I click on it, something that looks like a Command Prompt window opens and immediately shuts (so fast I can't really tell what it is), and nothing else happens. The image DVD is in the drive.

Start a Command Prompt and then run tbicd2hd and you'll see the options.

Code: Select all

TBICD2HD 1.04 - Copyright (c) 2008-2010 TeraByte, Inc. All Rights Reserved.

usage: tbicd2hd s:\path\filename.tbi d:\path\filename [/combine]

s:\path\filename is the source .tbi file.
d:\path\filename is the destination file.

/combine creates a single target file.

Thank you for the info. I tried it, although I didn't use "/combine" because I wanted to see what would happen. The first three files, ".TBI" through .2, have sizes that match the ones on the DVDs, just over 2 GB each. On the DVD the size of the .3 file is also just over 2 GB, but the file size on the hard drive is 755 MB. The Command Prompt window did display "Completed Successfully."

I then tried a copy using "/combine." The total of the four files on the DVDs is 8.3 GB, but the size of the combined file on the hard drive is just under 7 GB, or the same size as the four separate files that were created on the hard drive with the first copy above. Both cases are exactly the same amount under the total of the separate files on the DVD. Can you tell me what is happening?

the files on a direct burned CD/DVD just take up the entire space, it
doesn't burn another session with the actual ending file size on the last
disk so that each disk uses the maximum amount.

Thanks. I have searched for documentation on TBICD2HD in the Knowledge Base, but there doesn't seem to be any, so this has been really helpful.
