Undeleting partitions

Hi,

After a recent, ahem, mishap; I had cause to undelete my partitions.
The message that popped up mentioned ext2, reiser, and some MSoft
ones. Is this an exhaustive list or is ext3+4 included? Is there a
list of supported file systems for this operation available?

ext4 is included. It should be able to find it if the boot sector wasn't cleared.

Several Linux partitions were found, but instead of their names, they
had an arrow (made up of dashes and a '>'). The windows (NTFS)
partitions were recovered with their names intact.

I will recover the Linux partitions from my backups.

because it doesn't know what the names you had were - you'd just rename them
in properties.

But why was that the case when NTFS partitions did have their names
intact? The names/no names seems to be divided along file system-type
lines.

I don't know where I can across the tip...it was on these NGs IIRC. I
create a hidden folder with the name of the distro and that is easily
visible from the BIBM edit file window.
