Failed to create USB with makedisk in latest Windows 10

Fri Aug 19, 2016 1:22 am

I tried to create a USB stick with makedisk.exe for BIBM version 1.33 using Windows 10 and it gave the message "Failed" (may have been a few more words, but nothing to explain why it failed).

Next I inserted the stick into my PC and went into my existing BIBM. Work with partitions - select the stick. It showed "Errors exist". I tried to wipe the stick but it reported an error writing to it.

I then tried it in Windows 7 and it saw the stick ok and makedisk created the new version ok. The stick booted and upgraded my existing version, so all is well.

Just thought I'd post to make you aware there may be a problem with Windows 10 (new anniversary update version 1607).

Russell,

Ah good, thanks. I just wondered if there was a problem. Maybe it was the USB stick - I know they vary and might be unreliable.

I've seen similar issues with some new flash drives. I just try again and it works.
