Dual Booting Ubuntu 14 with Windows 2010

Post by chris90010 »

I've heard I can install Ubuntu on the same drive as Windows 2010 and Linux will setup a boot manager so I can choose either one. I wanted to know how well this worked or if I need to upgrade from BootIt Next Generation to BootIt Bare Metal (my new computers is GPT). In the past I've used BootIt NG to avoid corrupting Windows but didn't know how likely this was.

Thanks,
Chris

Personally, I would take another route. I use BIBM and LOVE it as a
boot manager. It cannot be installed on a GPT drive AIUI. I would
never use a GPT drive because of this.

I would do this http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/kb/article.php?id=580
so could use BIBM.

I have Win 7, Win 10, Vista (all 64 bit), Win XP 32 bit and five Linux
distros installed in primary partitions with BIBM as the boot manager.

Good luck with whichever choice you make.
