Looks like one drive attached, which must be your SSD where you installed BIBM?

So you still need to do the process:

1) Backup the entire original drive (you can attach now as secondary drive or put it back as the only drive and boot the IFL or IFD or BIBM with IFD boot disk and backup). Personally I'd use IFL in this case. Put the backup in a safe place.

2) Run the ChgDType.tbs script to convert the old drive to use EMBR/MBR. Consider putting back the drive as the only drive in the system and ensure it's booting to Windows in legacy (normal) mode.

3) Reduce the size of your old partition and copy it over to the new drive. (presume align on 1MiB is enabled in settings already)

4) Configure a boot item just like you use to and ensure it's still booting.

I cannot figure out the exact meaning of and the relationship between the two figures contained in the foto attached to my last posting i.e. 232.89 GiB and 238465 MiB.

For ease of reference I repeat that at the moment my notebook has two internal disks: one SATA HDD with a nominal 500 GB capacity and an SSD with 250 GB.

When installing BIBM I had set the boot sequence to
#1 DVD
#2 SATA HDD
#5 SSD
(cf. the Attachments to this posting)
So I thought that the BIBM setup would choose the HDD for its dedicated partition and not the SSD. Is that wrong? Did it choose its partition on the SSD instead of the HDD because the SSD is MBR whereas the latter is still GPT?

I mentioned several times that I would hate to remove the SSD. Isn't there any way to backup the HDD with the SSD still mounted? Perhaps I should change over from BIOS to UEFI again, buy IfL or IfW and backup the HDD with one of them? I understand you prefer IFL (that means Image for Linux doesn't it?).

From the picture it appears your BIOS is providing access to 1 drive, the
250G drive.

yes, you could use IFL/IFW for the backup or copy since they don't rely on
the BIOS.

I started my Linux Mint 17 "Qiana" Live DVD and could see all my drives and partitions (cf. the attached digital photos). You were right that BIBM was installed on the SSD.

I also took a look into the context menu of Device /dev/sda1 and detected the menu item "Create Disk Image". What about this for a full backup of the SATA HDD with Win8 on it and if so, could I save it to an USB 2.0 external Hard Drive? How should that or the respective partition be formatted? Wouldn't the live DVD in the RAM (8 GB) take a very long time to backup the 500 GB disk?

If I decide to buy IfL: what is your most favourable product containing IfL? I understand it is automatically included in the purchase of IfW? Does the possession of a BIBM license entitle me to a rebate on such product?

Boot Option #2 in the BIOS is the hard drive. It's strange that BIBM can't see the hard drive.

That puzzled me too. But isn't it because BIBM cannot deal with GPT? Linux live obviously can, and so does IfL as I learnt from the Terabyte support material.

But please, everybody, try to answer my previous posting with the 3 attached Linux photos. It is urgent now because I want to be able to run the Win8 contained on the HDD as soon as possible in order to get the free upgrade to Win10 from Microsoft.

You may want to wait for a month or two after Win 10 is released.
I certainly will.

You have a full year to get it.

BIBM can see GPT disks and all partitions on the GPT disk. Create, Delete, Format, Resize, Slide, etc, are available.

@Mary
Thank you Mary for taking the time pressure out of this thread as in fact did already Bob Coleman in his posting. But I misread the year in his target date of July 29, 2016 as being 2015. So I can clarify my problems more relaxed and with more patience.

@Brian
Thank you Brian for your hint that BIBM should show the HDD even if GPT and provide all the actions for it like Create, Delete, Format, Resize, Slide, etc. So I should try to find out now why it does not show up in BIBM whereas it does in Linux. I would think it should be due to some BIOS/UEFI settings?

@everybody
Does anyone have an idea which BIOS/UEFI settings I should try to change in order to see my HDD or should I fiddle around on my own? I would certainly not want to remove any of the two disks from my notebook. And since Linux sees both of them and provides actions for both, it should not be necessary.

You can start with a BIOS update. Double check the options on your BIOS to
ensure all drives included in the BIOS scan. Basically the BIOS reports
the number of HDD in the system and BIBM uses that. It's possible they do
something dumb like look if it has a GPT and if it does, don't include it in
the BIOS, or it can just be a normal bug where they have the wrong drive
count.
