Would appreciate any ideas why no mouse or keyboard when installing Windows 7 Pro in new Lenovo K450e.
Converted Win8.1 GPT to EMBR to dual boot to Win7Pro.
All devices and software fully functional in Win8.1 after conversion.
PC boots to Win7Pro installation media.
No USB mouse. Laser light not on.
USB keyboard not responsive.
BIOS set to Legacy.
Found no mouse/keyboard setting in BIOS.
USB enabled in BIOS.
Mouse/keyboard plugged into USB2 ports (read Win7Pro not have USB3 drivers).
What might be issues?

I would try every USB port. On some systems there may be only a couple that will be detected in that scenario. Try the USB3 ports also. Note that they may only be detected on a cold boot-up. I have one system that's like that -- have to do a complete power down (turn off power supply or unplug, wait) and cold boot for proper USB device recognition.

Check for any Legacy USB options in the BIOS and make sure they're enabled.

If you have a compatible USB card around that's detected properly by Windows 7 you could install it and use it until you get into Windows and get the new drivers installed.

Windows 7 is getting to the point that installing it on new systems can be difficult...

Win7 will need USB3 drivers if that is what you have your KB/Mouse installed
on.

Is a USB 2 hub a possibility on those ports?

Said using a USB 2 port so probably not relevant to this problem.

the answer would be no - USB3 doesn't provide a USB2 interface for software
to interface with. Only because MS wouldn't give their logo if the
manufactures included a companion controller like they did with the move
from USB1 to USB2.
