Does Windows 8.1 still have the problem with Fast Start turned on corrupting
partitions?

I had Win 7 and Win 8 using BootNow with the /hibernate in Task Scheduler
per TB as I used Hibernation.

I have now decided to stop using BootNow as I don't boot that often between
the two OS's.

I am going to update to Win 8.1 via the Windows Store and was wondering if
anyone knows if MS has fixed
that Fast Start corruption problem or not. I still want to use Hibernation
with Win 8.

I can't remember now if BootNow with /hibernate was used only because we
used Hibernate or it
it was used just because of the Win 8.0 Fast Start corruption problem.

Hopefully someone can clarify this for me.

Just a note --- I sure wish those of us that have Win 8 could get an ISO of
Win 8.1 from MS so we could
do clean installs down the road. The way it is now we would have to install
Win 8.0 and then again go
to the Windows Store and download and install Win 8.1 again each time we did
a clean install.

Thanks Brian. I saw that some place too. The only thing is that my 8.0 is an
OEM. This won't work with an OEM product key.

Which part doesn't work? The download or the Activation after Win8.1 has been installed?

Yes. The issue has to do with how MSoft has implemented hibernation in
general. One also needs to have common data partitions for the issue
to be possible.

I didn't try it but several articles I have seen says that it won't work
with OEM product keys.
Don't know if that is for the download or the activation.

I do have common data partitions visible to 8.1 and 7.0.

So are you saying that I still have to have Fast Start off.

Can you just have Fast Start off or do you also have to have bootnow set up
in Task Scheduler with the /hibernate too ?

Like I said, I won't be using bootnow now.

No problem guys. Further down the page I linked you will find a placeholder key to use. This lets you download and install. After Win8.1 has been installed you can Activate with your own key.

Edit... You can avoid creating a Microsoft account by entering a fake email and password. You can then use your Local account.
