USB to PS2 adapters problem

Hello,

I have ten HP machines with BootIt Bare Metal installed. Before these machines, I had ten older ones for work and I used ps2 keyboard and mouse. Now I bought from ebay ten usb to ps2 cable adapters because the HP machines don't have ps2 port.
The problem is that when the PCs boot BootIt, I cannot use mouse or keyboard.
Is there anything I can do to fix this problem?

Thank you in advance.

Did you try using the keyboard and mouse directly via USB (not through the PS/2 adapters)?

Is USB legacy support enabled in the BIOS?

USB support for the keyboard and mouse is provided by the BIOS. If it's not working correctly, check if there's an update available.

I cannot use the keyboard and mouse directly, because there is no PS2 port on the PCs.

If I use a usb keyboard or mouse (I borrowed on from a friend), it's working fine. Both Bios and BootIt.

It's a crap shoot which will work.
Borrow a dozen from friends, etc., And you'll see what I mean.

Around here you'll often hear 'update your BIOS'......which RARELY
fixes the mouse issue.

Often it's faster & easier to just use the keyboard hot-links to
navigate around in BiBM.

I think john_f_l has a different problem than the one often discussed here regarding mice not working.

It sounds like he can't use either the mouse or keyboard without an adapter because his mice and keyboards only have PS2 connectors, but that when using the adapter, neither mouse nor keyboard work. I think he also said that both a USB keyboard and USB mouse work.

If I've understood correctly, implying that he should/could use the keyboard instead of mouse is no help in his situation.

I am sure you considered switching to USB devices.
Is that not a possibility, at least for the keyboards?

Some USB mice have problems in BIBM & BING as well.

All PS2 to USB adapters are not created equal. I've got 4 different ones for my 4 systems. One adapter will work in one system, but not on another. The Belkin adapter seems to be more forgiving, but it too seems to generate some extra keystroke and mouse moves on one of my systems, but not the others. Some don't work on any system(the cheap ones !) So borrow some from friends, note the manufacturer, if you can, and find one that works. Good Luck
