Keeping pre partition work data

I bought a new 2T HDD and quickly moved chuncks of video, music and pic data accross, without making any partitions first. There's only about 200G of data, so the disk is relatively empty. Now I want to partition the drive but when I resize the only partition (drive) the data there is unreadable by windows. If I go back and undo my work the data is there again.

How can I keep the data while creating and resizing ?

Hello,

Run chkdsk /f on the partition, then resize it.
