STOP: 0x0000008E Error When Using TBIMount and Sony Ericsson PC Suite

Problem:

Windows STOP: 0x0000008E Error appears when using TBIMount on a computer with the Sony Ericsson PC Suite software installed.

Cause:

Sony Ericsson PC Suite allows the user to access their Sony Ericsson cell phone as a drive when it's connected via USB, Bluetooth, or Infrared. The application and/or associated drivers used in some versions of this software may cause a Windows STOP error when TBIMount is used to unmount an image.

This problem has been reported on Windows XP SP3, but may also affect other versions of Windows.

Solution:

If a newer version of the Sony Ericsson PC Suite software is available, consider updating and see if the problem has been resolved. Otherwise, you may need to uninstall the software and use an alternate application to access the cell phone.
