Message: "Unable to Copy the Required Component from the Current Directory to the Windows Driver Directory" During PHYLock Install

Problem:  When attempting to install PHYLock, you receive the following error message:

Unable to copy the required component from the current directory to the windows driver directory.

Cause:  One or more of the following applies:

  • The contents of the PHYLock distribution ZIP file were not fully extracted prior to running PHYLock setup.

  • The user attempting to install PHYLock was not logged in as a member of the Administrators group on the local system.

Solution:  Ensure that each of the following conditions are met:

  • The contents of the PHYLock distribution ZIP file must be fully extracted prior to running PHYLock setup.  If you are using a version of Windows that supports the "compressed folders" feature (e.g. Windows Me, Windows XP, Windows 7), please see the article Special Note for Opening ZIP Files Using Compressed Folders.

  • The user attempting to install PHYLock must be logged in as a member of the Administrators group on the local system, or the "Run As" command must be used, with the login credentials of a member of the Administrators group on the local system supplied.  For information on using the "Run As" command, please refer to the link below.
